The children’s book Carl Goes on a Field Trip promotes positive perspectives on self-advocacy as Carl stands up for himself so he can participate during a field trip. The 24-page fiction book also includes a “words to know” vocabulary list and comprehension questions to keep the learning going. Carl was first introduced in our Katie Can series, based on our best-selling book of the same title. In the story, Katie becomes friends with her early-elementary classmate Carl through her familiarity with basic ASL. We are continuing with Carl’s story in the new and inclusive Carl Can series.
